People, Places and Things

October 22, 2013

I’m over 52 years old and half of my life has been spent in addiction. In the beginning I lived in Kansas City, Kansas and began my addiction with partying on the weekend and then using to help with my very busy schedule. With my children and school becoming too much, the addiction over took my life and everything centered on getting and using the drugs. I wanted to change but was unable because of people, places, and things. I ran to Arkansas and found myself at Soul Purpose Ministries (SPM).
At SPM, I was able to find new people who would love me until I could love myself. This new family showed me how to recover. I found myself learning that I am a child of God and a new creation. My personal relationship with God, living in the present and going through the 12 steps of the Celebrate Recovery program helped regain my worth.  He has revealed my calling of nurturing and guiding women to through their own recovery process. My worth in Christ is confirmed daily when the ladies around me discover their new hope and future with the Lord.
I’m over 5 years sober and live at the Jeremiah House.  As the house mom, I am a testament to the women that there is a hope and a future in Christ to live sober and free.
